Action Action Action at the Global Market, Global Market, Go-Bal Mar-Ket, Ket.

Hello Mindependents,
I've decided its far easier to type the "n" in lowercase and as it's two hours after the work day technically ended - easier is better.

BIG news from this past Saturday!
First of all, the Saturday Cross-City pollination effort has been called by those who attended (at least from my Minneapolis) as nothing less than an inspiring event. First of all it was on a Saturday Morning at 9:30 a.m. Secondly, the Minneapolitans had to get together before that so they could all carpool in the -9 degree weather over to Higher Ground Academy, on Marshall in St. Paul. A handful, maybe half-dozen made the trek to Good Ole' St. Paul, and met perhaps 30 others at the school. That includes interested students, staff, and St. Paul residents just up for a good old political romp.

Discussion focused on a couple areas - this is from reports mind you, not first hand, but I trust the source:

Use those connections! A large faction of Kieth Ellison supporters were present to throw their lot in with Obama. They were the backbone of an unprecedented campaign just a few months ago and they're already raring to go again. Its our hope that other minds for change will be able to team up with us and - regardless of political affiliation - work toward shared ends. From what I've heard, those who had worked with Representative Ellison were open to working together, since the ultimate goal is, of course, a better America. So everyone agreed there. Its just a matter of getting together.

Young People Can Do! Though they are probably not familiar with the archaic "College try", many of the High Schoolers and some of the elders were curious how we could get young people involved. First and foremost they need to get themselves to Draftobama.org to sign the petition. Then they need to get themselves on the obamamn@yahoogroups.com listserv simply by emailing that address and asking to be included. Then they should check out this space, MiNdependents For Obama (mindependents4obama.blogspot.com) and if they want to print up any material, read about the book that's changing the nation or get ahold of in the know individuals, go to http://obamamn.wikispaces.com/. For general info and to discuss, most importantly, they should be visiting the Independents for Obama site. Once they're connected, they need to keep their eyes open and attend events. More importantly, start your own Myspace accounts supporting Obama, facebook accounts. Chat lists, somethingawful - whatever. Just get the word out, get together, have rallies and join ours. Its important the youth do their own thing at their own events, high school events, pep rallies and spectator sports. We got two years to elect this guy, lets make it a foregone conclusion in one! Youth should also try to attend the old-folk events as well. Its important that "man on the street" sees a whole spectrum of ages at the events. Obama reaches across age and politics, and so must we.

Logistical Stuff!
Not as exciting, but an important concern as our second "big" event is speeding toward us. Of course you know it, the Global Exchange Big Screen for the announcement, next saturday (feb 10) at 9:30. I guess we'll be meeting in an office beforehand but I dont' want to confuse people, I think we'll make sure to have peopel at the big screen the entire time in case peopel go to the wrong location. We're going to fine tune the plans this Wednesday. See bottom of this post for that info - DISREGARD PREVIOUS POSTS ABOUT THIS MEETING. It was originally scheduled for Tuesday but has been pushed to Wednesday to accomodate more people. In general - the most recent blog will be the most accurate.

Press Releases:
Independents.forobama.org is now THE resource, THE location for ALL things Obama. It's very accurate, strives for the best language and spelling, and does a much better job of keeping their posts consistent. I am trying the best I can to get home before Heroes starts, so, I'm at a bit of a disadvantage on this spot. Anyway, the move from independents4obama.blogspot.com to the current site is a big deal. They've updated and classed up the place, got rid of these lame Blogspot B's that I have to deal with. They even have their own new servers to handle the anticipated increase of hits in the future. When they'll surely have found someone more qualified than me to handle the MN posts. In any case, very exciting for them. Go visit www.independents.forobama.org asap to check out all their neatly organized pictures and posts.
Another note, I've sent our press release to a couple papers, but for the most part I believe Paul should have sent it off to our TV sources and radio and all that good stuff. If there is someone out there who likes Obama and has a list of handy news contacts, please oh please get ahold of me. - I'm working on how - at least through the listserv. For now we're tracking them down as best we can but some experience with the TC media might open some doors.

Finally - NEXT MEETING:

Wednesday, February 7 @ 7 p.m.
The Urban Bean
Corner of Bryant and 33rd st.

Well thanks for reading. I should be in touch tomorrow night. Until then, keep hoping. We'll see ya'll soon.
