MN Daily is rethinking Obama

Hello MiNdependents!

The emminent Minnesota Daily (3rd largest Daily in Minnesota - largest entirely student run paper in the country), which they'll parenthetically tell you every time they mention the beast, has just run a very interesting piece on Obama by Jason Stahl - one of their Opinion writers. It's called Rethinking Obama , and it discusses what has caused Stahl to rethink his position on Obama as a candidate. He doesn't go so far as to say he supports him, but he faults his own cynicism for not believing Obama could be what this country needs.

Inspiring.

Not necessarily his words, but his message, and most importantly his admission of his own change of opinion. This is the type of writing that comes from listening to someone like Obama. This is the type of attitude that Obama infects people with. Thank God, finally, I say. He himself is the poster boy of listening to both sides of an argument and not being afraid to admit fault. This ability lose the stick to your guns go down with the ship mindset we've been dealing with for the past 6-20 years. The ability to sideline pride and say, "You know, he hasn't convinced me yet, but I think I might have been wrong about this guy, issue, stance, war...etc - maybe I should look into this more." It's something we don't see nearly often enough and I'm proud of the Daily, and proud to have been a part of it once. It sure is a great institution.

At least that's what I thought until I read "The postmodern return to Vini Vedi Vici"...Please, read the responses to that one if you're going to read it at all, because otherwise you'll come away with a painfully under-informed opinion.

Until next time, keep hoping
