Event!!!!

Hello MiNdependents!

I hope you are all as excited about the upcoming announcement as I am. There is of course the chance that we'll all be going our separate ways come February 10th, but from the buzz around him and the attention the media is paying to our story's hero,
Barack Obama's intention to run for president (or not) will be made public at 10:00 A.M. February 10th. Yahoo group ObamaMN (obamamn@yahoogroups.com) is planning a get together for that day to watch the announcement and perhaps have a beer, tea or soda to celebrate (or drown our sorrows) afterwards. People will start showing up around 9:30 A.M. Here's the info, email the yahoo group above for specifics or if you'd like to help out. Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak will be showing up at some time (again!) to join us. We also hope for some media presence so the more the merrier. It is a FREE event for EVERYONE! There's even FREE PARKING(for two hours) in the lot and ramp on either side of the Midtown exchange building, and on the surrounding streets - though, you don't want to park on Lake. Try Elliot ave.

9:30 A.M. Global Market Big Screen
Midtown Exchange Building
2929 Chicago Avenue
Minneapolis, MN

The building is on the corner of Chicago Ave. and Lake St., it's the biggest building in Minnesota besides the MOA, so its hard to miss. Go in under the yellow awnings and look for the Big Screen, near Maps coffee and Holy Land cafe.

Further, a planning meeting will be getting together at the Urban Bean ( corner of Bryant Ave and 33rd st, in Minneapolis) at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 6 . We'll be making arrangements for volunteering, carpooling, being cheerful and making Obama posters and so forth.

Saturday February 3rd, at 10:00 A.M. members of the Minneapolis Obama Meetup group will carpool over to St. Paul to converse with a new St. Paul Meetup group that has the same goal. Other meetup groups are also forming, possibly in Stillwater and other surrounding areas. If you want to start your own meetup group but don't want to pay for a meetup.com account, contact the yahoo group above and we'll figure something out. We're gonna need supporters all over the state - Iron Range, Duluth, I'm looking at you. St. Cloud, come on buddy. You, over there, New Ulm, Rochester, Albert Lea, Owatonna - I need your number. So please check out the meetup group. Paul Provost and Carl Holmquist have done an admirable job of organizing the Minneapolis group and will be the ones heading off to St. Paul to see if they can help at all. I don't want to volunteer them, but they run the obamamn@yahoogroups.com group and respond quite promptly to emails, especially regarding our favorite Illinois Senator.

Keep on Hoping out there, We'll see you at the Global Market!
